Inflatable FUN backrest for packraft ROBfin

The backrest is designed to provide comfortable back support during paddling activities, increasing comfort when sitting for long periods in the ROBfin packraft. In addition to the basic function of back support, the backrest also offers several useful features for paddling enthusiasts

Color variants

1. Installing the inflatable FUN backrest into your packraft:

  • Backrest, not inflated yet we place into the backrest holders by placing G-hooks from bottom of the packraft to top. Position os determined by length of the paddlers legs (slightly bent, with knees just above the top of main tube).
  • Set up the footrest accordingly.
  • Inflate the backrest to low pressure.
  • Bend the back end of the backrest to side of the strap and pull it so the backrest just fits into the packraft from back of paddler to the back of packraft.
  • Using the strap that holds packed packraft we push the backrest into boat (run it through Drings on side and backrest top holders)
  • Push the backrest down on velcro on the floor of packraft.
  • Inflate so the backrest is comfy and you have enough room inside the packraft.

2. Using the FUN backrest for ROBfin packraft:

  • Press on the Velcro in the lower part.
  • Fill in and/or inflate.
  • Secure with the ROBfin strap from above (as shown in the picture bellow).
  • The working pressure of the FUN backrest is 0.1 Bar. Inflating it more, the zipper will release the excessive pressure. Please do not exceed the working pressure of the backrest. You may damage the zipper and it will not be comfy any more.
  • Keep zipper clean, the sand or debris between teeth of zipper can cause the unwanted air leaks.
  • When closing the zipper, hold both sides along and close by soft pull. Overfilling the bag can cause tearing slider off and serious damage.

3. Installing the inflatable FUN backrest into an older ROBfin packraft model:

The FUN backrest kit comes with:

  • backrest,
  • Velcro fastener
  • strap to adjust the length of the backrest

How to install:

  • Decide the approximate location of the backrest and plan the placement of the Velcro (cut where the zipper extends beyond the valve or is too long elsewhere and thaw ends by lighter).
The Velcro holds the backrest in place from below, it is glued in the center of the bottom under the backrest. The second part of the zipper is located under the backrest.
  •  Clean the place where you want to place Velcro and also the patch with Velcro with Acetone. This step is very important. Cleaning with alcohol or other cleaners usually does not work.
  • Mark the glueing area with pen and place the ROBfin packraft on a flat surface.
  • Apply a very thin layer of glue to boat and velcro patch with a brush or finger and wait for 10 minutes.
  • Press firmly and roll or use a spatula (a tablespoon also works) to press the Velcro patch to the glued surface.
  • Wait about 8 hours before using it.
